Jeffrey Darby is seeking re-election to the Bossier City Council. He has served on the council for more than 20 years.
Darby's longtime cronies on the Bossier City Council--David Montgomery, Don "Bubba" Williams, and Jeff Free--are not running again. Collectively, these four members opposed any charter amendments with term limits on council members.
Darby is registered as an Independent. During his current term, he has almost aligned himself with his longtime cronies.
Darby just sponsored a resolution congratulating Donald Trump on his recent election as the President of the United States that was passed this week. To say this resolution was out of the ordinary is an understatement.
The Bossier Unified Development Code regulates signs on properties including political signs. This code prohibits signs on public rights of way. Darby has several signs on public rights of way. The signs read elect "A Proven Leader."
Maybe Darby considers his sponsorship of the Trump resolution as an example of his "leadership." Or maybe he lists his opposition to term limits as a testament to his "leadership." Surely, he does NOT believe that posting campaign signs illegally is a reason to elect him to yet another term on the Bossier Council.
