John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

BIG SHREVEPORT PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING TOMORROW (TUESDAY)

Shreveport councilman Gary Brooks is the chairman of the council's Public Safety Committee.

Brooks has held several informative committee meetings this year. Tomorrow's committee meeting addresses many important safety issues.

The meeting begins at 1 p.m., before the 3 p.m. council meeting.

Here are the agenda topics:

A. Discussion: Cruising in public parks and drag racing
B. Status of 48 new police cars
C. Status of SE Shreveport police substation and fire and police stations
D. Status of police firing range and cost to remodel
E. Status and location of surveillance trailers
F. Status of Fire Station 20 and estimated costs to repair
G. Discussion: Surge in shootings
H. Unified data base update
I. Discussion of squatters ordinance and enforcement plans for amended ordinance

Brooks is to be commended for calling this meeting and for setting an aggressive agenda.

It's time to get answers to these hard, but very important, questions.
