Last Tuesday, March 25, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson jetted to Shreveport to meet with Gov. Jeff Landry to discuss the future of film tax credits
Then, 50 Cent visited the Shreveport City Council at its meeting where his lease of Expo Hall was approved. In a "made for TV" appearance, Jackson told the world that he was going to build his legacy in Shreveport.
Then on Wednesday, March 26, he posted on social media a video featuring bundles of cash. The tagline was "All roads lead to Shreveport.β The video had stacks of cash spelling out S-H-R-E-V-E-P-O-R-T. Reportedly, he used over $2 million to spell out Shreveport.
To round out his week, he posted a video endorsing Proposition 2 on the Saturday ballot.
Obviously, 50 Cent was toting the water for Landry in hopes of earning brownie points.
During the week, social media gurus dug up social media posts by Jackson featuring pictures of Jackson and President Trump. These were widely circulated in Shreveport along with this cash display and proposition 2 endorsement.
Jackson is certainly a man for all seasons and a Master of Media publicity. Since he certainly has cash to spare, one hopes some of it will go to renovation of his dilapidated downtown buildings he purchased as well as renovation of Millennium Studios. But then those actions are certainly not as "sexy" media-wise as his postings last week.
