RUMORED "HANDS OFF" RALLY AT CADDO COURTHOUSE COULD BE ILLEGAL

Social media is promoting a "Hands Off" Rally at the Caddo Courthouse for this Sunday at 5 p.m.

This is part of a national movement for a "mass mobilization day to send a message to the world that we do not consent to the destruction of our government and our economy for the benefit of Trump and his billionaire allies."

A Hand Off posting proclaims that "Donald Trump and Elon Musk think this country belongs to them. We are fighting back."

Caddo Parish ordinance 6017 of 2020 reads in operative part:

"No person, group, or association shall use the grounds or steps of the parish courthouse for rallies, meetings, exhibits, or other gatherings without prior authorization of the director of the department of facilities and maintenance or designee of the parish administrator. This authorization shall be in the form of a hold-harmless agreement drafted by the parish Legal Department."

Calls to the Caddo Parish legal department and the facilities maintenance director indicate that NO authorization has been granted for the rumored rally. The Caddo Sheriff Office has the responsibility for the security of the courthouse and parish ordinances affecting the courthouse.
