U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY GREENLIGHTS CADD0 BOSSIER PORT CARBON CAPTURE PROJECT

Both the Wall Street Journal and the Center Square have reported that U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright confirmed that the Project Cypress Direct Air Capture project for the Port of Caddo-Bossier has qualified for federal funding.

Heirloom, a San Francisco-based direct air capture company, will proceed with its plan at the Port.

The carbon captured at the site will be sent by pipeline approximately 100 miles for permanent burial at the Central Louisiana Regional Carbon Capture Storage Hub operated by Capture Point.

Heirloom uses limestone to capture carbon dioxide and it will be designed to remove over 300 thousand tons of carbon dioxide annually.

Reportedly this $475 million project will create over 1000 construction jobs and more than 80 permanent jobs.

Heirloom will have a partnership with Bossier Community College to design a specialized curriculum for the project.
