SETTLE TALK: WILL PROPOSED SHREVEPORT BOND PROPOSALS BE AN EASY SALE?

Most politicos are NOT optimistic on passage by the voters.

Many are asking what has changed since the 2019 bond package defeat?

Questions to be answered include the following:

a. Will all seven council members endorse the entire bond package?
b. Will the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce and/or the Committee of 100 get on board?
c. What is the same and what is different in the new bond package from 2019?
d. What will be the impact of no real citizen involvement in formution of the proposals?
e. How will the pandemic affect voter attitudes?
f. What will the special election date with low voter turnout affect the results?
g. Will disgruntlement with the mayor and his office doom the proposals?

Needless to say there will be plenty of public discussion on these proposals. And like it or not, these proposals will constitute a referendum on the performance of the mayor and his administration
