CARSTENSEN FILES ELECTION CHALLENGE ON HIS DISTRICT B RACE

James Carstensen was a candidate for the Shreveport City Council District B. He finished third in a recount to Gary Brooks and Mavice Thigpen-Hughes.

Yesterday (Thurs.) Carstensen filed litigation in the Caddo Clerk's Office requesting that the results of the Nov. 8 primary election in Caddo Parish not be certified.

The litigation filed by attorney Patricia Gilley names as defendants Mike Spence Caddo Clerk of Court,

Dale Sibley Caddo Registrar of Voters and Kyle Ardoin Louisiana Secretary of State.

The suit alleges that the new council redistricting maps were not properly followed in the creation of the ballot for the District B election. It also alleges irregularities in the voting machines.

The hearing on this case will be Mon. Nov. 21 in Caddo District Judge Mike Pitman's court.

Cases challenging elections are by law heard on an expedited basis including appeals.
