John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

 

HAZE NIGHTCLUB HAS FAILED MANY FIRE PREVENTION INSPECTIONS THIS YEAR

The HAZE nightclub has been in the news many times in recent months, all with negative stories. The building is owned by Anthony Montgomery. The club is operated by Chelette Holden.

The Shreveport Fire Prevention office has set the maximum number of occupants for the first floor at 230 and the second floor at 150.

Occupancy for the rooftop patio was set at 145 on May 24 of this year when an emergency metal stairway was available to the rooftop. The stairway has been removed and the reported max occupancy is now 49.

The Club has been cited for numerous fire code violations this year including the following:

1. April 14 -- nonfunctioning fire alarm devices and the lack of system monitoring
2. April 25 -- fire alarm control panel (FACP) not communicating with devices and unable to connect cellular dialer to panel
3. April 25 -- fire alarm system not currently monitored
4. May 2 -- fire alarm system not activating upon initiation and no system monitoring
5. May 17 -- same violations as noted on May 2
6. May 25 -- same violations as noted on April 25 (no.2 above)
7. May 30 -- emergency notification system not monitored
8. June 27 -- same violations as May 2 above
9. June 27 --same violations as April 25 (no. 2 above)
10. June 27 -- same violation as May 2 above
11. June 28 --same violations as April 25 (no.1 above)
12. June 28 -- same violation as May 2 above
13. June 28 -- same violations as April 25 (no.1 above)
14. Sept. 25 -- same violations as May 2 above
15. Sept. 28 --same violations as May 2 above
