FRIENDS OF FAIR GROUNDS FIELD CONTINUE PUSH TO SAVE THE STADIUM

The plight of Fair Grounds Field is still a topic of discussion.

Mayor Tom Arceneaux wants the demolition of the stadium to be completed. Litigation filed earlier this year stopped this effort when a restraining order was issued. The order has now expired, but the lawsuit has not been dismissed.

REV Entertainment made a major PR push to have the city enter into a contract for the construction of an entertainment venue at the location of the stadium during the Perkins administration. The Arceneaux administration executed a contract for an economic feasibility study of the REV proposal. Reportedly the study has been completed and it shows the proposed venture is not economically feasible. (A Public Records Request has been made for this document.)

The Friends of the Fair Grounds Field, headed up by Linc Coleman, made a proposal to the Shreveport Capitola Improvements Committee to rebuild and repurpose the operations of the stadium.

The Committee’s final recommendation of a bond package did NOT include any funds for this effort.

Here is the letter sent to the Committee. Additional information will be published on the Committee’s proposal in near future.
