SHOULD THE YMCA PUBLICLY ENDORSE A FOR PROFIT ENTITY?

The Shreveport YMCA is a non-profit organization.

The YMCA is building a new youth baseball complex.

The YMCA has received substantial donations along with Caddo Commission funds to construct the new facility.

Donors can deduct from their taxes these contributions.

A local for-profit media company published a magazine that featured the new YMCA baseball facility as its cover story.

The YMCA sent out an email press release with this copy, encouraging people to purchase this publication.

There are many IRS regulations on what a non-profit entity can and cannot to maintain the non-profit organization.

Promotion of a for profit private company is generally a big "No-No."

So, what is the deal with the YMCA promoting this publication?
