The Bossier City Council meets tomorrow, Tues.
The agenda includes a resolution to retain council for a legal opinion on the legality of the voter petition presented for term limits, and whether it violates the city charger.
The resolution can be adopted at that meeting.
The petition requires the council to vote on the term limits within 30 days from Mon. July 12.
If the petition is denied by the council, then it is to be voted upon by the electorate withing 120 days of the council vote.
At least, those are the intended results.
If enacted four of the sitting council members cannot run for re-election: Jeff Darby, Jeff Free, David Montgomery and Don Williams.
It is expected that these four will pass the resolution since they represent a majority of the council.
