John came to Shreveport in January of 1977 when he was transferred to Barksdale AFB.

He’s been active in Shreveport politics since deciding to make Shreveport his home.

John practiced law for 40 years and he now monitors local politics. He regularly attends Shreveport City Council and Caddo Parish Commission meetings.

John is published weekly in The Inquisitor, bi-monthly in The Forum News, and frequently in the Shreveport Times.

He enjoys addressing civic groups on local government issues and elections.

SHREVEPORT COUNCILMAN JACKSON: "SHOTS ON ME IF YOU VOTED TODAY"

As they say there are shots and there are "shots."

I get many shots---flu shots, covid booster shots, pneumonia shots, shingles shots, celestone shots, cortisone shots. And many readers do as well.

Since Shreveport councilman Dr. Alan Jackson is not a medical doctor, presumably his Saturday Facebook posting:

is referring to alcohol versus medical injections.

The Urban Dictionary defines "shots" as 'a series of alcoholic beverages served in succession. They are usually served in shot glasses, but often in full size glasses.'

Jackson's FB post is somewhat vague:

1. How many shots will he pay for?

2. What bars can participate in the "shots on Jackson" offer?

3. When does his offer expire?

4. Is proof of early voting required?

5. Can the free shot offer be transferred?

Maybe councilman Jackson, who is the current council president, will expound on his "shots on me" offer at the council meeting today.
