It’s a good question.
It’s important to remember that the three bond proposals are for the benefit of all Shreveport citizens, not just District D. Remember, District residents go to other districts in Shreveport to work, play, shop, visit, dine, etc.
Here is a list of streets and drainage projects in and affecting District D:
1. Wallace Lake Road at Flournoy Lucas Intersection turn lanes and traffic light $1,000,000
2. Concrete Collector Panel Replacement
Stratmore Drive - Stratmore Circle to Pugh Drive $500,000
3. Collector and Arterial
Millicent Way - Youree Drive to Brunswick $100,000
4. Neighborhood Street Reconstruction for District D $5.6 million
5. Interstate Highway LED Lighting (entire city will benefit) $7,000,000
6. Traffic Signal Improvements (entire city will benefit) $600,000
Here is a list of water and sewer projects affecting District D:
1. Amiss Water Plant Improvements $20,000,000 (the entire city will benefit)
2. Citywide Lift Station Improvements $9,000,000
3. Elevated Storage Tank in Southeast Shreveport $10,000,000
4. Lift Station Generators (District D, E, F)
The Police, Fire and SPAR bond package is $49,300,000 (the entire city will benefit)
The three proposals will not result in any ad valorem tax increases until 2027 due to the fact that several tax millage/bond payments will expire. Even then the increases are minimal.
There are many reasons for residents of District D to vote YES on all ad valorem tax proposals.
