It’s a good question.
It’s important to remember that the three proposals are for the benefit of all Shreveport citizens, not just District E. But remember that District E residents go to other districts in Shreveport to work, play, shop, visit, dine, etc.
Here is a list of streets and drainage projects in and affecting District E:
1. Asphalt Collector Street Reconstruction
Blom Blvd. - S. Brookwood to Francis Drive $2,500,000
2. Collector and Arterial
Mt. Zion Road - Linwood to Kingston Road $1,500,000
3. Neighborhood Street Reconstruction in District E--$7,900,000
4. Interstate Highway LED Lighting $7,000,000 (entire city will benefit)
5. Traffic Signal Installation $600,000 (entire city will benefit)
6. Neighborhood Drainage Projects $2,000,000 (entire city will benefit)
Here is a list of water and sewer projects affecting District E:
1. Amiss Water Plant improvement $20,000,000 (entire city will benefit)
2. Citywide Lift Station Improvements $9,000,000 (entire city will benefit)
3. Southern Hills Interceptor replacement $25,000,000
The Police, Fire and SPAR bond package is $49,300,000 (entire city will benefit)
1. Southern Hills swimming pool renovation
2. Tennis upgrades and Pickleball courts in Southern Hills Park
3. Lift Station Generators (Districts E, D, F)
Improvements to Public Buildings $20,700,000 (entire city will benefit)
The three proposal will not result in any ad valorem tax increases until 2027 due to the fact that several tax millages/bond payments will expire. Even then the increases are nominal.
There are many reasons for citizens of District E to vote YES on all three bond proposals.
Councilman Alan Jackson has endorsed all three bond proposals.
"One way we can actually help him (50 Cent) is by making sure our roads and our streets are as safe as possible."
