SHOULD THE BOSSIER CITY COUNCIL APPROVE THE SALE OF HARD LIQUOR ON SUNDAYS?

A proposed ordinance amendment on the Bossier City Council's agenda tomorrow (Tuesday) may draw a big crowd of citizens for comments. Councilman Brian Hammons has placed on the agenda the sale of hard alcoholic beverages for off premises consumption on Sunday.

Currently, the Bossier ordinance only allows the Sunday sale of hard liquor at restaurants. Bossier liquor stores can only sell wine and beer on Sunday. In Shreveport, liquor stores can sell hard alcohol seven days a week.

Councilman Hammons believes that Bossier City is losing approximately $350,000 a year in tax revenue without hard liquor sales.

The ordinance is for first reading tomorrow. It can be adopted at the Tuesday, July 2 meeting.
