IS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION REALLY RAISING MONEY TO PUBLISH "BEST PLACES IN SHREVEPORT BOSSIER TO CELEBRATE VANILLA SHAKE DAY?"

If that article does not interest you, how about Teddy Allen on "Vacations, pancakes and Howard Johnson's"? Didn't this guy previously write for the Shreveport Times?

The Foundation's fundraising also underwrites Shreveport Bossier Choice Awards for 12 different area businesses. Hmmmm-sounds like a 318 Forum or SB Magazine ploy to sell ads.

How about robots at a local business owned by mega millionaire John Georges who also owns the Shreveport Bossier Advocate?

And then there was the "Where can you find live crawfish in Shreveport and Bossier? Here are our top picks".

The Community Foundation of Northwest Louisiana (CFNWLA) established a Shreveport Bossier Journalism Fund. The goal of the fund was to raise a minimum of $500,000 for three years to be paid to the Shreveport Bossier Advocate. Yes to underwrite a mega millionaire expand his media kingdom to Shreveport.

And guess what? Give money and get a tax deduction. Then the money is funneled to a "for profit" entity. Geez.

The webpage states in part that the "Project seeks to fill media gaps left by the decline of traditional media sources with a focus on investigative journalism and coverage of issues in the Shreveport-Bossier area. Specifically, the Foundation seeks systematic, in-depth, original research and reporting on issues arising in Northwest Louisiana, mainly in Shreveport and Bossier. The Project seeks to expose the public to local matters through critical and in-depth journalism.”

So now you know--ice cream, pancakes and crawfish articles are serious topics in this neck of the woods, worthy of "in-depth, original research and reporting.
