Well, that depends on one's definition of "circus."
If you are thinking of clowns. acrobats and trained animals, then NO ---there will not be a circus in Bossier City tonight. Well on second thought, there may be some clowns but not the ones in costumes with big red noses.
If you are thinking of a "circus" as a group of people who act out in a public forum, then YES-- there is a good possibility of a circus tonight.
The ill-fated and cursed Bossier Charter Review Committee hopes to have its final meeting at 6:30 p.m. today in the Bossier Council Chambers.
Some of the commission meetings have been a "circus":
1. Charges of nepotism in the appointment of a commission member who was elected president of the commission at its first meeting;
2. The commission president and the assistant city attorney getting into a heated dialogue;
3. Then the resignation of the president;
4. Failure of a quorum at one meeting;
5. A rumored effort to flush all the agreed recommendations and start the process over.
The real issue attributing to the turmoil is the recommendation of term limits for Bossier mayor and council members. How all this fuss unravels may be moot after the delivery of a petition to have term limits on the ballot last week.
But in the meantime, Shreveport officials are happy for the negative focus on Bossier City Hall versus Shreveport's Government Plaza.
