The City of Shreveport has a summer intern program. The City issued a widely circulated press release on the program. At least one local TV station ran a story on the program. FOCUS SB printed the press release.
But what about Caddo Parish?
Yes, the parish also has a summer youth work program. It’s a virtual secret. Other than being mentioned/announced at a recent Commission meeting, this writer has not received a press release on the program. Nor has he observed any media coverage.
A public records request was made for information on the program. The response is printed below. Hopefully this will be widely circulated in an effort to afford all the Caddo youth to possibly participate.
It’s the observation of this writer that this program is usually pork that commissioners get to distribute. Many have notified "their People" to apply and actually nominated some as well.
So, virtually this program IS a secret except to those enlightened by the commissioners.
Geez...is that the way to run a governmental entity?
